About
Rob Newman has over 29 years’ experience advising owner-managed businesses and is the founding partner of Carter Collins & Myer, a Rochdale-based firm supporting established SMEs across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire. He specialises in business valuation, shareholder disputes, and financial analysis in commercial disagreements. His work typically involves companies with turnovers up to £5 million, where practical judgement and clear financial reasoning are essential. He regularly undertakes valuations for shareholder exits, divorces, and business sales, using earnings-based approaches supported by market data, alongside asset-based methods where appropriate. He also provides financial investigation and dispute support, including analysis of historic performance, reconstruction of accounts, and quantification of losses. He assists in HMRC enquiries and tax disputes, preparing structured responses and supporting advisers in presenting clear, defensible positions. Rob has experience in complex SME situations, including corporate restructures, share reorganisations, and crisis stabilisation where businesses are under pressure. His approach is pragmatic and commercially focused, with an emphasis on resolving issues proportionately and avoiding unnecessary escalation. Earlier in his career, Rob carried out forensic investigation work within large retail environments, identifying and recovering profit leakages through detailed financial analysis. He continues to apply that discipline in his current work. Rob works with solicitors, accountants, and business owners, providing independent financial insight where the numbers are central to resolving disputes or informing decisions.
